Jenny Jones wins Gold
Jenny Jones wins Gold at X Games 2nd year running 1st February 2010
British snowboarder Jenny Jones won gold in yesterday’s slopestyle competition at the Winter X Games, Aspen. Landing a near perfect trio of Frontside 540, Cab 540 and Frontside 720 Jenny took gold with her last run. It was an especially impressive result considering the standard of the competition was higher than in 2009 with top athletes back from injury including the American, Jamie Anderson, who came in 2nd place followed by Janna Meyen-Weatherby in 3rd.
Jenny had been suffering from a swollen knee in the run up to the event which makes her status as the only Brit to win an X games medal even more remarkable.
Also aiming high this weekend was the UK’s Ben Kilner, who came 3rd in the LG Snowboard FIS World Cup half pipe event in Calgary. This is Ben’s best result so far this season and an ideal warm up for the upcoming Olympics in Vancouver.
Back at the X Games Shaun White showcased his much talked about new move in winning gold in the Men’s Snowboard Superpipe. After taking a tumble in the warm up Shaun made up for it where it counts by pulling off backside air, double cork 1080 and the self named Double McTwist 1260, taking him to his 3rd straight title.
